What is a allergy test and why do I have to have on?

An allergy test checks to see if you are allergic to the ingredients in the products we use to colour or perm your hair. We ask all our clients to have one and won’t colour or perm hair without one. Test is required to be carried out a minimum of 48hrs prior to appointment and must be booked via our website booking system.

Why do I need to have an allergy test?

Unfortunately reactions to jar colourants and perms can occur in a small number of people - a bit like food allergies. Reactions are extremely rare but your well being is our priority which is why we carry out alert test.

How is an allergy test carried out?

One of the team will mix up a small amount of product and apply it with a cotton bud either behind your ear or at the bottom of your hairline. You will be asked not to get that area wet for the next 48 hrs.

What if I have a reaction?

In the very unlikely event that you have a reaction (it is estimated at 0.1% of the population will develop an allergy after colour or perm use), but if you are concerned consult with your GP or call the salon for advice. You may experience a tingling sensation when first products first applied but that should disappear very quickly, if the test starts to burn or cause pain remove with plenty of water, do not scrub the area.
